Week 3 of prototyping
For our last week of prototyping the theme we were told to follow was “nature”. Fortunately, this time the theme was easy to follow and make our prototypes around it. The question we asked this week is "How will our games work if we remove the original mechanic.
Due to the unexpected reception of last week’s playtest of the first prototype, we decided to continue with the idea of a game in the dark, most people said they enjoyed the experience. We came up with the idea of setting this prototype in a dark forest at night since it perfectly fits the theme of nature. The enemies were replaced with bears that upon getting closer to or shooting near them, would start approaching unlike in the previous playtests. Those were not the only changes we made, we decided to get rid of the grappling hook and see if player prefer it without it.
For the second prototype we also followed the same theme, removing the original feature to see how the game would function. In the prototype you are no longer able to teleport at will. The levels are now also themed to the "nature" prompt, featuring vines and shrubbery. You must now make your way through the maze-like level design without the help of being able to teleport.
